The BTEC Diploma in Art & Design with Welsh Baccalaureate (Intermediate) is a level 2 general art and design course, which allows learners to gain experience and skills in a range of specialisms. The syllabus is wide-ranging, offering the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification at intermediate level together with many opportunities for you to use your imagination and creativity. Drawing ability and practical skills also important and you will need an eye for shape and colour, a willingness to experiment, as well as commitment. This is a Level 2 course, which is equivalent to 4 GCSEs. It consists of 6 core units plus 2 specialist units.
This qualification will help learners to enter higher level courses e.g. National Diploma and prepare them for employment in the field of Art and Design.
Students must possess one of the following: 2 GCSEs at grade C or above, to include an Art/Design related subject. BTEC Level 1 Diploma in a related subject at Merit grade or above All students also need to present a satisfactory portfolio of practical work at interview
